The Port of Vancouver has released its second cruise update for 2026, highlighting Canada Place’s record passenger numbers, its upcoming annual Port Day, and a call to action to help drive water conservation in the port.

In its newsletter, the port said that passenger traffic through the Canada Place cruise terminal is reaching record highs. More than 290,000 passengers passed through the terminal in July (the most ever for a single month), with August on track to match that volume.

Vancouver said that 40 percent of the 1.4 million passengers expected at Canada Place this cruise season will have moved through the terminal in the span of just two months. Passenger flows have remained fluid despite these record-breaking volumes.

2026 Milestones

The port added that its annual Port Day celebration will return to Canada Place on August 29 and that the family-friendly event will feature live performances, exhibits, marine demonstrations, as well as a call from Princess Cruises’ Discovery Princess.

There will also be a chance to win an Alaska cruise courtesy of Holland America Line.

The port also recently celebrated a milestone for the authority’s facial biometrics system, which processed its one-millionth cruise passenger two years after launching.

According to the newsletter, Vancouver also welcomed three ships making their first-ever calls at Canada Place: Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic, Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady and The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s Luminara.

Environmental Efforts

The port has encouraged visiting cruise partners to continue conserving water and supporting efforts to protect local supplies to help preserve Vancouver’s water supply.

“We also request that crew members limit water running time to two minutes when flushing the freshwater valve before connecting it to the vessel. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation in using water responsibly this summer,” the port stated.
