Katherine Jenkins Joins Saga’s 73-Night South America Grand Voyage

  • August 21, 2026
Katherine Jenkins

Saga Cruises has added two performances by Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins to the entertainment lineup during its 73-night Grand Voyage to South America in 2027.

In January 2027, the Spirit of Adventure will circumnavigate South America across 21 ports in 15 countries, visiting Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, The Falklands, the Panama Canal, whale-watching waters off Chile and the glaciers of Patagonia.

Jenkins will perform twice in the ship’s Playhouse Theatre, on January 22 and 23. This will be her first appearance on a Saga Cruise in more than a decade, and her debut aboard the Saga Spirit fleet, according to a company statement.

“I cannot think of a better way to begin our 30th anniversary celebrations than with a once-in-a-lifetime voyage around South America. Guests can explore Brazil, Argentina, Chile and many other fascinating destinations, such as Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands, which is also timely as 2027 marks 45 years since the Falklands conflict,” said Nigel Blanks, CEO Saga Travel.

“We’re also thrilled to welcome Katherine Jenkins onboard for this landmark voyage, bringing her incredible voice to guests as part of these very special celebrations. Spirit of Adventure is the perfect choice of ship for this cruise, providing our award-winning all-inclusive value, and the high levels of service that make our boutique cruise experience truly unforgettable.”

Full Voyage

Departing January 7, 2027, the Spirit of Adventure will sail from Portsmouth via Gran Canaria and Cape Verde to Brazil’s Salvador and Rio de Janeiro.

Following a call in Buenos Aires, the ship will sail on to Montevideo and a first-ever call for Saga at Puerto Madryn, gateway to Patagonia’s wildlife.

The ship will then spend two days in port at Stanley, The Falklands, before rounding Cape Horn and past the Amalia and Brüggen glaciers. Next up are calls at three Chilean ports before an overnight stop in Callao, the port for Lima, Peru.

From Lima, guests can choose a four-day, three-night overland tour into the Peruvian Andes to Machu Picchu and ride the Vistadome train through the Sacred Valley to explore the 15th-century Inca citadel, with stops at Pisac, Sacsayhuamán and Cusco’s colonial cathedral along the way.

The ship then continues to two new ports for Saga: Salaverry for Trujillo and Fuerte Amador in Panama, before transiting the Panama Canal.

From Colón, the voyage calls at Cartagena in Colombia, Aruba, Grenada, Tobago and Barbados, and finally São Miguel in the Azores, before returning to Portsmouth.

Prices start from £18,999.

For guests who can’t commit to 73 nights at sea, Saga has also split the voyage into four shorter fly-cruises. The cruise line noted that demand has been strong, with the Buenos Aires to Chile and Chile to Grenada segments already sold out.

Portsmouth to Buenos Aires

This 23-night segment starting from £7,999 will take guests from the UK to Gran Canaria and Cape Verde during the transatlantic crossing.

It will then visit Salvador, Rio de Janeiro ad Pelourinho in Brazil, cruise up the Rio de la Plata into Buenos Aires, where guests spend the night. This is followed by an overnight flight back to the UK.
