Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has appointed Nikola Durdic as staff captain. The announcement was made on LinkedIn through a post on Durdic’s page.

“I have been promoted to staff captain — the Captain’s Deputy. This promotion represents a major professional milestone for me,” Durdic said.

“However, this achievement is not mine alone. My deepest gratitude goes to my family, who have been my greatest support throughout every challenge, believed in me and always stood by my side, even when I was far away from home,” he added.

“This achievement is theirs too, because without their love, understanding and support, my journey to this moment would not have been the same.

Proud of the journey behind me, grateful to everyone who believed in me, and ready for the new challenges and miles ahead.”

The appointment follows the company’s announcement that it is the first company line to sign the Merchant Navy Welfare Board’s Seafarer Pledge, reinforcing its focus on crew wellbeing, career development and the future of maritime talent.

The company also introduced a Crew Welfare Officer role to coordinate wellbeing initiatives and welcomed more than 200 young people aboard for educational visits and hands-on experiences.
