Expedia Cruises is building mid-year momentum through continued franchise expansion, industry recognition and strategic investments in technology that position the brand for sustained growth.
The company said in a press release that it has surpassed the halfway mark toward its annual franchise development goals.
During the first six months of 2026, Expedia Cruises awarded nine franchise agreements, including expansion agreements from existing franchise owners and new entrepreneurs joining the system.
Seven retail locations so far this year have been opened, and the company said it remains on track to achieve its 2026 goals of opening 14 locations and awarding 15 franchise agreements.
“The first half of 2026 reflects the strength of our franchise system and the confidence our franchisees have in the Expedia Cruises brand,” said Matthew Eichhorst, president of Expedia Cruises.
“As we continue expanding our network, we’re also investing in advanced technology and enhanced support that empower our consultants, elevate customer experiences and position our franchisees for long-term success.”
Expedia underlined that the results of its latest Franchise Business Review survey, completed by 142 of 173 principal franchisees, demonstrate high franchisee satisfaction.
The company also earned multiple 2026 recognitions from Franchise Business Review, including Top 200 Franchises, Top 100 Franchise Culture, Top 100 Franchises for Women and Top 50 Most Profitable Franchises.
It was also recognized as a Highly Commended Best Retail Franchise in the 2026 Global Franchise Awards and received several supplier awards from supply partners, including Azamara Cruises, Scenic Group, Costa Cruises and MSC Cruises.
Furthermore, Expedia Cruises’ Senior Director of Strategy, Partnerships and Sales, Ealeen Wong, was selected as the Godmother of one of Viking’s newest river ships, scheduled to debut this October.
The brand noted that this highlights its industry leadership.
Looking ahead, Expedia said it would continue to invest in new technology to support both travelers and Vacation Consultants.
This includes the launch of a new consumer website with AI-powered capabilities and personalization later this year, enabling travelers to research and shop more effectively and providing consultants with new business intelligence.
