Ambassador Cruise Line has announced its “Mediterranean Moments & Solar Eclipse” sailing aboard the Ambition in 2027.

The ship is scheduled to depart Dundee on July 27, 2027, on a 19-night journey heading south towards Portugal and the Mediterranean, arriving in Gibraltar on August 2, the day of the total solar eclipse.

This follows last week’s three dedicated itineraries that allowed guests to experience the August 12 total solar eclipse: the Ambience off the coast of Gijón in northern Spain, the Ambition near Ittoqqortoormiit, off the east coast of Greenland, and the Renaissance in the Mediterranean.

“This week has shown just how special an eclipse cruise can be. Across the Ambassador Group, we had three ships in three very different locations, all giving our guests the opportunity to share the same extraordinary natural event with friends old and new,” said Bob McGowan, chief experience officer, Ambassador Cruise Line.

“Experiencing a total solar eclipse is something that features on many people’s bucket lists, so we are delighted to be doing it all over again in 2027. Our 19-night Mediterranean Moments & Solar Eclipse sailing aboard Ambition will combine the convenience of departing on a no-fly cruise with the opportunity to witness totality in Gibraltar and discover some fantastic destinations across Portugal and Spain.”

On the day of the eclipse, guests on the adult-only sailing will gather on deck as the totality reveals the Sun’s corona at approximately 10.45 am.

The company noted that the event will be the longest total solar eclipse visible anywhere on Earth between 2009 and 2114, with guests aboard the Ambition set to experience around four and a half minutes of totality while in Gibraltar.

Following the eclipse, the ship will continue her voyage with calls at Almeria, Alicante, Valencia and Ibiza before visiting Cadiz. A final call at Vigo follows on the return journey before the ship arrives back in Dundee on August 15.

The onboard program will feature a mix of live performances, guest speakers, music, enrichment and social activities, with further details to be revealed in the coming months.

Saver Fares start from £2,969 per person and Ambassador Fares from £3,775 per person, both based on two people sharing an Inside Cabin.
