Viking recently revealed details of its 2028-29 ocean deployment, which will include 80 voyages calling at 301 ports across 84 countries and six continents.

The new voyages are scheduled to operate between May 2028 and September 2029.

Viking ships will offer itineraries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, North America and Alaska, as well as South America, Australia and the Caribbean.

According to the company, the cruise program will be highlighted by the addition of two new ships, the Viking Leda and the Viking Vega.

The new 998-passenger vessels are scheduled to enter service in December 2028 and June 2029, respectively.

The deployment also includes two new itineraries: the 15-day “Alaskan Fjords & the Inside Passage” journey and the 16-day “Mediterranean, Malta & North Africa” voyage.

Viking said the new cruises are thoughtfully curated journeys that will allow guests to explore new ports and UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The new cruise in Alaska will sail from Vancouver to Whittier, featuring visits to two new destinations for the company: Klawock and Yakutat Bay.

To be operated by the Viking Orion and the Viking Venus, the cruise also includes stops in Ketchikan, Wrangell, Haines, Juneau, Icy Strait Point, Valdez, Homer, Seward and Kodiak.

The new 16-day “Mediterranean, Malta & North Africa” itinerary is highlighted by an overnight visit to Malta’s Valletta, giving passengers more time to explore the UNESCO-listed destination.

Viking is also adding more options for guests who want to explore Asia, including additional departures of its recently introduced “Japan Discovery” itinerary.

According to the company, the decision was based on initial passenger response to the cruise, which sails roundtrip from Tokyo.

The 15-day itinerary is said to offer guests the opportunity to explore “timeless traditions and vibrant cities of Japan.”

The new departures will visit nine destinations and are scheduled for the summers of 2028 and 2029 onboard the Viking Neptune.

The season will also include cruises onboard three additional newbuilds: the Viking Libra, the Viking Astrea and the Viking Lyra.

Currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard, the 998-passenger vessels are scheduled to enter service between 2026 and 2028.
