Tianjin Oriental’s Dream will sail from Shanghai on July 17 and berth at Qingdao International Cruise Homeport on July 20, kicking off a 10-day stationary staycation running through July 29, and serving as the first-ever offshore venue for the Qingdao International Beer Festival while operating as a floating hotel for its duration.
The staycation, which is the company’s first event-based, port-based cruise format product, offers two access tiers: daytrip passes and overnight stay packages for guests who wish to use the ship as a hotel.
The event marks an expansion of China’s concept of cruises previously centered on voyages that do not call at overseas ports, which now offers a port-based format anchored to a local cultural event.
Qingdao’s cruise homeport offerings in summer 2026 had previously been limited to two Kaissa-chartered, Korea-bound sailings on the Visio in early July, and a single themed “Sea Film Festival” voyage on the Adora Mediterranea in May.
The Dream’s static staycation targets Shandong-based visitors and local residents.
The Dream had been scheduled to operate 30 sailings from Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in the first half of 2026, until a number of voyages until August 30 were cancelled to make room for the staycation initiative which will be followed by a short program of cruises from Dalian. The ship is scheduled to return to Shanghai on September 3.
