Star Pride Kicks Off Summer Season in Iceland

Star Pride

Windstar’s Star Pride arrived in Reykjavik earlier this month to kick off a series of summer voyages in Iceland.

After offering itineraries in Northern Europe and the British Isles, the ship is now offering seven-night cruises that circumnavigate the island country.

Sailing roundtrip from Reykjavik, the weeklong itineraries will be offered through late August, visiting five Icelandic destinations.

After departing from its homeport, the Star Pride sails to Seydisfjordur for a 24-hour visit, including an overnight in port, before continuing to Akureyri, Isafjord and Grundarfjordur.

The itinerary is also highlighted by a visit to Heimaey, the largest island in Iceland’s Westman Islands archipelago.

In August, the 12,995-ton vessel is also scheduled to call at Husavik, a lesser-visited port known as a center of whale watching.

Before completing its deployment in the region, the ship is also scheduled to offer a 14-night cruise to Greenland.

The repositioning voyage sails between Reykjavik and Boston, also visiting destinations in Canada’s Newfoundland and Nova Scotia regions.

Among the ports being visited by the ship are Narsarsuaq, Qaqortoq, as well as Saint Anthony, Bonne Bay and Halifax.

Once in Boston, the Star Pride is scheduled to kick off a fall season in Canada and New England before repositioning to the Caribbean for the 2026-27 winter.

Sailing from San Juan, the 312-guest vessel offers seven-night cruises visiting destinations like the Windward and Leeward Islands.

Windstar returns to Iceland in 2027, with the Star Pride arriving in Reykjavik in early July for a new series of seven-night cruises.

Part of the company’s Star Collection, the Star Pride was originally built for Seabourn and entered service in 1988.

Extensively refurbished over the years, the ship underwent a stretching project in 2021, gaining a new 26-meter section with additional staterooms and more features.
