Shore Excursions Group has highlighted its shore excursions available around the globe in a small-group format.
The company noted in a statement that these are particularly well-suited to solo travelers, with this type of travel being on the rise, especially among Gen Z, millennial and female populations.
The global solo travel market, which was valued at approximately $549.8 billion in 2025, is expected to nearly triple to $1.6 trillion by 2033.
In their view, because they offer transportation, accommodation, dining and entertainment in a single package, cruises are a perfect choice for solo travelers looking for fewer logistical challenges during their trip.
While traveling solo, shore excursions offer a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, with the added bonus of safety within a group, which remains a top priority for solo travelers, especially women.
The company pointed out that many of the world’s most popular cruise destinations consistently rank among the safest for independent female travelers, with Iceland, Portugal and Japan topping the list.
Example of shore excursions:
- Reykjavik, Iceland: “South Shore Adventure Iceland” – This small-group excursion covers Iceland’s black-sand beaches, glaciers and waterfalls.
- Lisbon, Portugal: “Discover Lisbon on Foot” – A guided tour of Lisbon’s historic Alfama district that leaves room for independent exploration afterward.
- Kyoto/Osaka, Japan: “Osaka Castle Bike Adventure with Lunch” – This is a bike tour of Osaka’s Edo-era landmarks, from a Shinto shrine to the Osaka Castle and its gardens, followed by Okonomiyaki for lunch.
- San Juan, Puerto Rico: “San Juan Old and New Tour” – This tour of Old San Juan, coastal forts and tropical beaches delivers a full day of exploration.
