The Mein Schiff 5 recently completed ten years of service for TUI Cruises, having been delivered on June 21, 2016.

As reported by Cruise Industry News at the time, the ship was handed over by the Meyer Turku shipyard ten days earlier than planned.

The third in a series of ships that started with the Mein Schiff 3 in 2014, the ship was christened a few weeks later during festivities in Kiel, Germany.

Singer and songwriter Lena Meyer-Landrut served as the vessel’s godmother for the naming ceremony, which was reportedly watched by thousands of people from shore.

The Mein Schiff 5 then kicked off its maiden season, operating itineraries from Germany to destinations in the Baltic and Scandinavia.

For its first winter season, the 2,500-passenger ship offered a series of cruises in the Caribbean aimed at German-speaking markets.

It was also One of the ships trapped in the Arabian Gulf due to recent Middle East conflicts, as Mein Schiff 5 spent two months docked in Qatar before being cleared to transit the Strait of Hormuz this past April.

After sailing around Africa, the vessel resumed service in the Eastern Mediterranean in May, offering itineraries to the Greek Islands and Turkey.

The 97,000-ton vessel will remain in the region through mid-October, when it is scheduled to reposition to the Caribbean.

Sailing from La Romana in the Dominican Republic, the ship offers 14-night cruises to destinations in the Eastern and Southern Caribbean during the 2026-27 winter season.

Itineraries are highlighted by visits to the ABC Islands, in addition to St. Maarten, Catalina Island, Santo Domingo and more.

Earlier this year, the Mein Schiff 5 also underwent a drydock refurbishment in Dubai as part of a modernization project.

According to TUI, the initiative aimed to enhance the ship’s “feel-good experience” and make the ambience more contemporary.
