Fincantieri has reported net income of 102 million euros on revenues of 4.6 billion euros for the first half of 2026.
“The first half 2026 results confirm that Fincantieri’s growth trajectory is characterized by strong profitability expansion and value creation,” commented Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and managing director, in a prepared statement.
“Net profit, nearly tripling compared to the same period of the prior year, underscores the effectiveness of the strategic path undertaken, as well as our ability to translate our order book into concrete and tangible results. Moreover, the growing contribution of the underwater business, together with the continued strengthening of the group’s core activities, are reinforcing our industrial profile and enhancing its solidity, balance and distinctiveness. With a total backlog of 74 billion euros providing visibility through 2039, we can look ahead with confidence, leveraging an exceptionally strong industrial and commercial platform.
“We recently announced acquisitions in the underwater domain which represent a key strategic milestone, creating the first vertically integrated operator with complementary competences across the entire value chain.
“We are shaping a Fincantieri that combines industrial scale, innovation and execution excellence, further strengthening our leadership position and enhancing our ability to capture emerging opportunities,” Folgiero added.
According to Fincantieri the profitability improvement achieved during the first six months of 2026 was driven by a sharp margin increase in shipbuilding, reflecting operational efficiency initiatives and a more favorable business mix.
Shipbuilding posted record revenues of 3.2 billion euros, and increased revenue from cruise ship building were supported by favorable pricing dynamics, with revenues up 14.5 percent from the first half of 2025.
The total orderbook counts 92 ships, including 35 cruise ships with deliveries through 2039.
During the first six months of the year, Fincantieri finalized contracts for two new ships each for AIDA Cruises and Viking; signed a contract to build three new ships for Princess Cruises, and subsequently in July, signed a contract for a third ship for Four Seasons Yachts.
By the end of 2026, Fincantieri will deliver the first cruise ship powered by hydrogen stored aboard and used for both power generation and propulsion. The Viking ship plays a key part in the shipbuilder’s strategy focused on energy transition for next-generation vessels characterized by greater efficiency and advanced technologies.
In addition, digital tools were applied in the construction of the Four Seasons I, which is said to have an integrated digital architecture based on real-time data and AI solutions. Fincantieri said the ship represents an evolution of its strategy to become a lifetime partner for the shipowner.
Four cruise ships were delivered during the six-month period, the Norwegian Luna, Four Seasons I, Viking Mira and Mein Schiff Flow.
