DogToon Books has announced that its children’s title, “DogToon Adventures: Cruise Crew,” is now available exclusively aboard Oceania Cruises.

Designed for children, dog lovers and cruise enthusiasts, the book helps readers better understand the talents, responsibilities and teamwork required to operate a cruise ship.

The exclusive onboard edition marks the company’s first retail partnership within the global cruise industry and is available only during the voyage, according to a statement.

It was created by DogToon Books founder Ram Glick, a cruise industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience.

“Guests experience the magic of cruising, but they don’t always see the extraordinary teamwork behind every voyage,” said Glick. “After spending more than three decades working alongside incredible people from around the world, I wanted to create a book that recognizes their contributions while inspiring the next generation to discover the people behind the uniforms.”

The illustrated book takes readers behind the scenes through the eyes of 21 original DogToon characters.

Readers get to meet the roles of captain, staff captain, first officer, chief engineer, ship’s doctor, executive chef, cruise director, shore excursions manager, environmental officer, boutique manager and many other professionals working on ships.

Combining storytelling with education, it encourages readers to learn about the careers at sea while engaging with the crew members they meet throughout their voyage.

“The cruise industry gave me opportunities and memories that shaped my life,” Glick added. “Creating this book has been my way of giving something back. If it encourages guests of all ages to connect with the remarkable crew members they meet—or inspires even one child to pursue a career at sea—I will consider it a success.”
