Adora Cruises has announced that the family stage show “Shanhai Classic Adventure” had its premiere on July 5 aboard the Adora Magic City, the company’s first large ship, officially launching its summer-themed season.
“We’re thrilled that the ‘Shanhai Classic Adventure’ family stage show premiered successfully, kicking off this summer-themed cruise season. We continue to explore the innovative ‘cruise + culture’ model, bringing more excellent traditional culture to the sea and providing families with a sea vacation full of cultural content and delightful interactive experiences,” Adora said.
The show was newly produced and upgraded by Adora Cruises in collaboration with China International Culture Group and China Welfare Institute Children’s Art Theatre.
Inspired by the “Classic of Mountains and Seas”, it tells the story of ancient mythical creatures such as Bai Ze and the Nine-Tailed Fox, who use faith, teamwork and kindness to venture through Shanhai and uphold justice.
The performance combines traditional Chinese-style stage design with immersive light-and-shadow effects.

On the premiere day, the theater was packed with over a thousand guests, the company said in a press release.
In addition, the documentary “Shanhai Myth Adventure,” produced by China Media Group, is also being screened on the ship, allowing viewers to appreciate classic Chinese mythology.
Adora stated that throughout the season, a variety of family-friendly interactive activities will be offered, including a Chinese-style fair and ship-wide parades themed around “Shanhai Mythical Creatures,” extending the experience from the theater to the entire ship.
In addition, guests can also enjoy a range of family-friendly activities, such as the “Little Navigator” program to learn about maritime culture in a fun and educational way, or a behind-the-scenes tour of the ship.

This summer-themed program will cover the homeport seasons in Shanghai and Shenzhen from July 3 to August 13. The ship will be based in Shanghai, offering multiple five-day and six-day international cruises.
From August 13 to September 16, the ship will depart from Shenzhen International Cruise Homeport for a series of international cruises.
