The Christina O yacht, which served as inspiration for the design of the new Four Seasons Yachts ships, is currently available for sale.
According to a report by CNN, the 34-passenger vessel saw a 50 percent price drop earlier this year and is now available for 52 million euros.
With a long and colorful history, the yacht was initially built in the 1940s as a wartime anti-submarine vessel for the Canadian Navy before being converted in the 1950s.
The project was led by Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, who later hosted various celebrities, dignitaries and high-profile guests onboard, including Winston Churchill, Elizabeth Taylor, Maria Callas, Frank Sinatra and Jacqueline Kennedy.
Previously operated in the high-end charter market, the yacht could be converted into a boutique luxury cruise ship.
Extensively rebuilt in the early 2000s, the ship currently offers 17 guest cabins, in addition to a grand dining room, a spa and different bars and lounges.
Equipped with extensive outdoor decks, the Christina O also offers a large swimming pool that can be turned into a dance floor.
The latter was the main inspiration for the pool deck onboard Four Seasons’ new yachts, which feature a 20-meter-long pool in the aft, with a surrounding deck designed for both privacy and socializing.
As in the Christina O, the bottom of the pool can be raised to create a platform that is converted into a dance floor.
As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, designers of the newbuilds also gained inspiration from the yacht’s profile.
“We wanted to create a truly timeless elegance, with a curvaceous and elegant architecture. We all love the harmonious lines and proportions of the Christina O,” said Fredrik Johansson, partner and executive director of Tillberg Design of Sweden (TDoS), which designed the ship.
At the time, the design studio also described the Christina O as a “legendary yacht, packed with a myriad of unique features.”
Listed for sale with Tim Morley of Morley Yachts, the ship also offers space for over 40 crew members and officers.
The first of the Four Seasons Yachts, the Four Seasons I, entered service earlier this year. The 190-passenger vessel will be followed by the Four Seasons II in 2027.
