Delivered by the Fincantieri shipyard on April 15, 2021, the Viking Venus recently completed its fifth year of service for Viking.

As the seventh in a series of identical 930-guest ships ordered that started with the Viking Star in 2015, the vessel was built at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard in Italy.

The Viking Venus spend its inaugural season sailing in the United Kingdom, with a series of residents-only cruises departing from Portsmouth.

Before its inaugural cruise, the 47,000-ton vessel was christened at a special ceremony that took place with the ship at sea in the English Channel.

The ship’s ceremonial godmother was British journalist and broadcaster Anne Diamond, who offered a blessing of good fortune and safe sailing for the vessel.

Also celebrating Viking’s return to the ocean after a 14-month operational pause, the event was held on May 17, 2021.

Later, in August, the Viking Venus repositioned to the Mediterranean for itineraries departing from the Valletta Cruise Port.

The vessel’s inaugural season in the region included a series of 11 to 21-night cruises to destinations in Greece, the Adratic and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Starting in late May this year, the Venus offers a series of ten-night cruises in Alaska.

In September, the Viking Venus is scheduled to reposition to Asia ahead of a winter season sailing in Australia and the South Pacific.

The deployment starts with a 22-night transpacific voyage that sails from Vancouver to Tokyo over the course of 22 nights.

In addition to destinations in Alaska, the cruise also features overnight visits to Japan, including an overnight stay in Otaru.
