Port Tampa Bay has upgraded its cruise terminal infrastructure with three new passenger boarding bridges.
The new bridges, two at Cruise Terminal 2 and one at Cruise Terminal 6, are designed to accommodate multiple vessel configurations and boarding heights, according to a statement.
This is expected to enable various types of ships to call at the port, providing greater operational flexibility.
“This investment reflects our continued commitment to delivering a world-class experience for cruise guests while modernizing critical infrastructure across our terminals,” said Port Tampa Bay president and CEO Paul Anderson.
“The upgrades represent a strategic investment in the future of cruise travel at Port Tampa Bay, improving comfort, efficiency and flexibility for our cruise partners and the millions of travelers who choose the port each year, while reinforcing our position as a premier cruise gateway on Florida’s Gulf Coast.”
The enclosed bridges are fully climate-controlled, offering protection from the elements while passengers travel from the cruise terminal to the ship.
They feature advanced stabilization systems, self-adjusting technology, real-time monitoring and enhanced load-management capabilities, said Port Tampa Bay.
Complementing the project is a service agreement providing ongoing maintenance, performance monitoring and support, which is expected to reduce costs, minimize downtime and help ensure long-term performance.
