The new Legend of the Seas recently arrived in the Western Mediterranean ahead of its maiden voyage for Royal Caribbean, which is scheduled for July 4, 2026.
Delivered by the Meyer Turku shipyard in June, the Icon-class ship arrived at the port of Málaga in Spain on Monday.
The LNG-powered vessel is now offering a short preview cruise before welcoming its first paying guests next Saturday.
For its first commercial cruise, the Legend of the Seas is scheduled to offer a seven-night cruise departing from the Italian port of Civitavecchia.
The maiden voyage features visits to ports in Spain, France and Italy, including La Spezia, Palma de Mallorca, Marseille and Barcelona.
Continuing its inaugural season, the vessel is scheduled to offer a series of weeklong cruises that also sail to additional destinations in the region throughout the summer.
The 5,610-passenger ship will then reposition to Florida in November ahead of a winter season sailing to the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
Departing from Port Everglades, the vessel’s cruises in the region are highlighted by regular visits to Royal Caribbean’s private island destination of Perfect Day at CocoCay.
The six- to eight-night itineraries also feature ports of call in the Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean, such as Aruba, Curaçao, Cabo Rojo and Falmouth.
After being built in Finland, the Legend of the Seas was delivered to Royal Caribbean International on June 10, 2026.
The 250,800-ton vessel was undergoing final preparations ahead of its maiden season in the Western Mediterranean.
According to the Spanish media, the ship was also scheduled to undergo a drydock in Cadiz but the project was later cancelled.
As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the vessel was set to spend five days at the Navantia shipyard to undergo technical inspections and overhauls.
Royal Caribbean was also taking advantage of the yard’s structure to install over 10,000 natural plants in the Central Park of the ship.
