Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH) released its 2025 “Sail and Sustain” report, outlining the progress made in terms of its global sustainability strategy.

The full report is available here.

“Our Sail & Sustain program is designed to support resilience, discipline and long-term value creation,” said John W. Chidsey, chief executive officer of NCLH.

“The progress outlined in this year’s report reflects the dedication of our team members and partners around the world as we continue to strengthen our business, support our communities, and advance our sustainability journey.”

The report showcased highlights under NCLH’s five pillars.

Under “Caring for Nature,” the company said it expanded biodiversity initiatives such as eDNA monitoring and advanced marine conservation through partnerships, such as the one with Pacific Whale Foundation (PWF).

The goal to test 60% of the fleet with biofuel blends was exceeded by achieving 76%, including trials involving hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), biodiesel blend across multiple vessels.

Additionally, at the end of the year, 74% of its fleet was equipped with shore power technology.

For “Sailing Safely,” NCHL underlined its focus on the health, safety and security of guests and crew through public health programs, compliance measures, training and oversight across the fleet.

In terms of “Empowering People,” the cruise line said it invested in the growth and well-being of team members, noting that shoreside and shipboard team members completed over 395,700 training and development hours in 2025.

For the “Strengthening our Communities” pillar, it was reported that $2 million in cash, cruise and other in-kind donations were given to various causes.

When it comes to “Operating with Integrity and Accountability,” the company highlighted its focus on reviewing key supplier operations, performing over 30 business reviews and over 83 third-party food safety audits.
