MSC Marks Countdown Until World Asia’s First Sailing

MSC World Asia KV Dragon

MSC Cruises has marked six months until the first sailing of the MSC World Asia and has announced that the ship will be officially named on November 28, 2026, in Le Havre, France.

Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises, said: “Our World Class ships have been a great success with guests, and the MSC World Asia, the third of eight in this class, marks the next step in this journey.”

“As we look ahead to her inaugural Mediterranean season, we are proud to continue delivering ships that reflect our vision, innovation, beautiful design and focus on the guest experience, with each one raising the bar even further.”

“I’m also proud to announce that Captain Paolo Benini will take the helm of the MSC World Asia, in recognition of his outstanding leadership on MSC Euribia, including during its recent deployment in Dubai.”

Following the official naming ceremony, the World Asia will begin her inaugural Mediterranean season from Barcelona on December 4, offering seven-night itineraries to destinations including Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia (for Rome), Naples and Valletta, with embarkation available at every port.

The company said in a press release that with just six months to go, it has highlighted six standout onboard attractions, which include the following:

  • The Cliffhanger, an over-water swing ride towering 50 meters above the open sea
  • The Spiral @ Tree of Life, the longest dry slide at sea at 81.3 meters, spanning 11 decks
  • The Twin Racer & U Drop Waterslides
  • The Adventure Trail High Ropes Course, spanning 6,210 square feet and featuring Sky Rails that are similar to a zip line
  • The MSC Formula Racer, a racing simulation experience with a two-seat simulator, and
  • The MSC Luna Park Arena, which is set to become one of MSC Cruises’ most innovative and interactive entertainment venues to date. The venue will host game shows, high-energy themed parties and entertainment across two decks.

The company added that guests can book their sailings aboard MSC World Asia here.
