Mitsui Ocean Fuji to Sail 47-Day Cruise to South Pacific

Mitsui Ocean Fuji

The Mitsui Ocean Fuji will offer a 47-day voyage to the South Pacific from its homeport in Japan in early 2027.

According to Mitsui Ocean Cruises, the South Pacific Paradise Cruise will be highlighted by visits to 13 destinations, including ports in Australia, Tahiti, Guam and Fiji.

The company added that the voyage was designed to offer Japanese guests a resort-like experience in a warmer region during winter months in the Far East.

Mitsui said that the itinerary will allow guests to experience the nature and diverse cultures of the South Pacific, noting that the “appeal of a cruise lies in the ability to comfortably visit regions that are difficult to access by air or land.”

Sailing roundtrip from Yokohama, the cruise is scheduled to start on February 2, 2027. The voyage also features stops in Port Vila, Vanuatu; Lautoka, Fiji; Moorea, Papeete, Raiatea and Bora Bora, French Polynesia; Apia and Pago Pago, Samoa; and Majuro, Marshall Islands.

Before returning to its homeport near Tokyo, the Fuji will visit Cairns in Australia, Saipan in Northern Mariana Islands and Chuuk in Micronesia.

Mitsui Ocean Cruises is currently getting ready to welcome a second ship to its fleet with the debut of the Mitsui Ocean Sakura.

Originally built for Seabourn, the 450-passenger ship entered drydock earlier this month after being delivered to the Japan-based company.

The former Seabourn Sojourn is scheduled to enter service for Mitsui in late September, kicking off a series of short cruises from Yokohama, Tokyo, Kobe and more.

The company also retired the Nippon Maru, which completed its last voyage in early May and is now believed to be heading to a scrapyard.

The farewell voyage of the 1990-built vessel was celebrated with a special event in Yokohama that attracted over 7,000 visitors.
