A new 24/7 public access defibrillator funded by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has been unveiled in Rosyth, Scotland.
Guests and team members across the fleet and the cruise line’s UK office raised funds for the Norfolk-based charity Heart 2 Heart, with the installation supported by Cruise Forth, a volunteer-led organization promoting cruise tourism in and around Rosyth.
The defibrillator has been installed outside Rosyth Fish Bar, near St John’s RC Primary School and Treetops Family Nurture Centre, according to a statement.
“At Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines our relationship with the Port of Rosyth is longstanding, and our connection with the local community is deeply valued,” said Samantha Stimpson, CEO of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.
“Supporting the installation of this public access defibrillator is a simple but impactful way for us to give something back – helping ensure that vital, lifesaving equipment is available to residents and visitors when it’s needed most. As a key home port for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, Rosyth remains central to our operations, and initiatives like this reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting the communities we touch.”
The cruise line added that it has supported Heart 2 Heart since 2022, raising more than £43,000 to date.
The unveiling coincides with the return of the Balmoral to Rosyth for the start of her summer program, featuring 11 sailings departing between June 10 and August 18.
Itineraries include sailings to Norway’s fjords, smaller‑ship cruising to France with calls to Rouen and Bordeaux, as well as voyages to Iceland, giving guests the chance to see the solar eclipse.
