Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines recently promoted a new captain as Paolo Togonon will take over the helm of the Bollette.
According to a social media update, Togonon has been serving as staff captain onboard the 2000-built vessel.
Fred. Olsen said that the new captain began his maritime career in 2004 as a deck cadet, after graduating from the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific.
He served on cargo vessels and OBO carriers before joining the Fred. Olsen fleet in 2011 as a second officer.
Togonon went on to serve as Safety Officer onboard the Black Watch and the Braemar, before progressing to Chief Officer and later Staff Captain.
“His career highlights include helping to restart the fleet following the pandemic, supporting major drydock projects, mentoring future generations of officers and crew, and taking part in Braemar’s memorable transit through the Corinth Canal in 2019,” Fred. Olsen stated.
The company added that Togonon remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism and guest experience in this new phase of his career.
Fred. Olsen noted that the new captain will also foster a positive environment for guests and crew, as an “advocate for teamwork, professional development and creating opportunities for others to progress.”
“Paolo believes leadership is built on trust, open communication, accountability and supporting people to achieve their full potential,” the company continued.
Togonon is scheduled to take over the helm of the Bollette on June 20, 2026, Fred. Olsen said in its update.
Sailing from British ports on a year-round basis, the 1,380-passenger vessel is scheduled to offer a series of cruises from Liverpool through December.
The deployment includes itineraries to the British Isles, Scandinavia, the Canary Islands, the Iberian Peninsula, Iceland, the Mediterranean and more.
Highlights of the schedule include a 16-night cruise to the French Riviera and Spain in September, which will visit seven ports, such as Port Vendres, Ajaccio and Cartagena.
