AmaWaterways has unveiled the first details and renderings of the AmaRudi, the second double-width river ship scheduled to debut on the Danube River in spring 2027.

“AmaRudi reflects our confidence in the future of river cruising and our continued commitment to innovation,” said Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways.

“There is tremendous opportunity to continue pushing the boundaries of what a river cruise ship can be while preserving the exceptional service and intimate experience that have defined our company for more than two decades,” added Powell.

The company said in a press release that the AmaRudi builds on the AmaMagna’s design and will stand alongside its sister ship as the largest river cruise ship in Europe.

Designed to accommodate 196 guests in 98 staterooms and suites, the vessel is the first in the company’s history to be named after a man, honoring co-founder Rudi Schreiner.

The design concept for the AmaRudi features subtle historical references inspired by cities and cultures along the Danube River, and the ship will debut several new features and guest experiences.

The AmaRudi will feature multiple culinary venues, including the following:

• The Journey’s Restaurant
• The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant
• Al fresco dining experiences
• Rudi’s Wine Bar, and
• A built-in Deck Club barbecue on the Sun Deck.

The Sun Deck will feature a full-sized pickleball court.

Guests can also look forward to AmaWaterways’ enhanced dining experience, including complimentary beer, soft drinks and a curated selection of wines.

Guests will have access to a wellness area featuring massage treatment rooms, hair and nail services, a fitness center and relaxation spaces, as well as a variety of fitness classes and wellness programming both onboard and ashore.

The AmaRudi will introduce an entirely new entertainment concept created exclusively for the ship. The venue will feature a cinema, karaoke, billiards and a jukebox, while thoughtful soundproofing ensures guest comfort throughout the vessel.

The ship will also feature advanced Stage V engines, solar panels, shore power connectivity, spud poles and lightweight construction materials designed to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

The AmaRudi is scheduled to begin sailing the Danube River in spring 2027. The ship will operate some of AmaWaterways’ Danube itineraries.
