Celebrity Cruises recently cancelled one of the sailings scheduled to take place onboard the Celebrity Equinox in 2027.
According to a statement sent to booked guests, the August 12, 2027, departure will no longer go ahead due to a full-ship charter.
“We understand that this is not an ideal situation, and we truly apologize for the impact this has on your vacation plans,” Celebrity said.
“The time and effort you took to plan your cruise is important to us, so we’ve put together some alternative options that we hope will work for you and those in your party,” the company added.
The Celebrity Equinox was scheduled to offer a nine-night cruise to Spain, Portugal and Morocco on the affected date.
Sailing roundtrip from Barcelona, the itinerary included visits to Porto, Tangier and Cádiz, in addition to an overnight call to Lisbon.
According to the statement, passengers will be able to move their reservations to similar nine-night sailings on the Equinox in June or September 2027.
Guests can also opt for a nine-night itinerary to the Italian Riviera, Spain and France scheduled to sail in early August 2027.
Celebrity said that passengers who choose to change their bookings will have their original stateroom category price either protected at the original cruise fare or, if lower, reduced to the current cruise fare.
For reservations paid in full that happen to have a decreased cruise fare, the company will refund the difference.
As a gesture of its appreciation and understanding, Celebrity is also offering a non-refundable onboard credit based on stateroom categories.
Guests sailing in Aqua Class and lower stateroom categories will receive a $200 onboard credit per stateroom, while passengers cruising in suites will receive a $400 onboard credit per stateroom.
Celebrity is also waiving any non-refundable deposit change fees for passengers who opt to rebook any other sailing with the company.
In this case, guests will be responsible for any difference in cruise fares but will receive the same onboard credit as offered to guests rebooking the company’s selected sailings.
Guests can also cancel their reservations for a full refund of the cruise fare and any additional services.
