Royal Caribbean’s Mariner to Sail in Mediterranean and Western Europe in 2027

Mariner of the Seas

The Mariner of the Seas is scheduled to sail in the Mediterranean and Western Europe during the summer of 2027.

After being redeployed by Royal Caribbean International, the Voyager-class vessel will operate cruises departing from Portugal, Spain and Italy during that timeframe.

Upon completing a winter season sailing from New Orleans, the 2004-built ship offers a repositioning voyage to Europe in late April.

Starting in early May, the Mariner offers a series of seven- to 10-night itineraries to a wide range of destinations.

The deployment is highlighted by departures from Lisbon and Barcelona, including nine-night cruises to Portugal, Morocco and Spain.

The open-jaw itineraries sail to different ports, including Tangier, Casablanca, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca and Porto.

Some of these sailings also feature visits to destinations in the Canaries and Madeira, including Funchal, Tenerife and Las Palmas.

Departing from Civitavecchia and Ravenna, the 3,348-passenger ship is also set to offer itineraries to the Eastern Mediterranean, the Adriatic and the Aegean.

Other highlights of the season include a seven-night cruise focused on the 2027 Solar Eclipse, sailing from Barcelona in late July 2027.

The voyage will allow guests to witness the phenomenon while sailing in the Western Mediterranean as part of an itinerary that visits Casablanca, Tangier, Gibraltar, Cartagena and Palma de Mallorca.

Set to offer a new winter season from New Orleans in 2027-28, the ship ends its European season with a trans-Atlantic crossing scheduled for late October.

The Mariner of the Seas was initially scheduled to sail from the British port of Southampton during the summer of 2027.

Last April, Royal Caribbean announced plans to redeploy the ship, replacing it with the Freedom of the Seas in the United Kingdom.

Previously scheduled to offer cruises from Miami, the larger ship took over Mariner’s original itineraries, which included itineraries to Scandinavia, the North Sea and Western Europe.

In a subsequent redeployment initiative, the company cancelled Symphony of the Seas’ cruises from Galveston in favor of new summer itineraries from Port Everglades.
