The OE Corinthian made its first visit to the Port of Lisbon during its maiden voyage for Orient Express Sailing Yachts.

Sailing to Marseille, the ship is currently offering a repositioning cruise to the French Riviera that departed from St. Nazaire.

The visit to the Portuguese capital city took place on May 6, 2026, and included a traditional plaque exchange ceremony.

Port officials were joined by ship officers for the celebratory event, which took place onboard the 108-passenger ship.

“This choice reinforces the international recognition of the quality of the infrastructure and the operational excellence of the Port of Lisbon, establishing it as a benchmark port in the Atlantic,” the port authority said in a social media update.

Highlighting the ship’s hybrid, wind-powered propulsion, the Port of Lisbon added that Orient Express’ innovation and sustainability efforts are aligned with its own strategies.

The OE Corinthian is the first ship in the fleet of Orient Express, which is a subsidiary of the hospitality company Accor Group.

Built at the French shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique, the 30,000-ton vessel is said to be the world’s largest sailing ship.

Before embarking on its maiden voyage, the ship was named in St. Nazaire on April 29, 2026, as part of a ceremony that celebrated the heritage of the French city.

The OE Corinthian has a design highlighted by Chantiers’ SolidSail system, which allows it to sail solely using wind power.

The 1,500-square-meter rigs rise over 100 meters and have a 360-degree rotation capability, allowing for optimal sail positioning regardless of the ship’s heading or wind direction.

Orient Express is welcoming a second ship to its fleet next year with the OE Olympian, which is currently being built at Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

As a sister ship to the Corinthian, the 108-passenger ship is set to enter service ahead of the 2027 summer season in Europe.
