Orca AI Partners with Samsung Heavy Industries on Autonomous Vessel Technology

  • May 4, 2026
Orca AI Deal

Orca AI has signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung Heavy Industries to jointly develop and deploy autonomous vessel technologies, according to a press release.

The collaboration will combine Samsung Heavy Industries’ autonomous solutions with Orca AI’s AI-powered maritime operations platform, enabling deployment of AI-assisted navigation, berthing and speed optimization across newbuild vessels and existing fleets.

“Bringing together Samsung Heavy Industries’ deep expertise in vessel design and integration with our AI-driven situational awareness platform creates a practical path to scaling autonomous capabilities,” said Yarden Gross, chief executive officer and co-founder at Orca AI.

Orca AI will integrate Samsung Heavy Industries’ on board technologies, including its SVISION berthing assistance system and autonomous speed control solution, into its platform.

Samsung Heavy Industries will integrate Orca AI’s platform into newbuild vessels equipped with the Samsung Autonomous Ship solution.

Hyun Joe Kim, head of Samsung Heavy Industries’ research institute, said enhancing the business portfolio and advancing technologies through AI-based autonomous navigation is a key competitive factor for the future of the shipbuilding industry.

Orca AI’s SeaPod AI-based lookout assistant also uses AI and computer vision to provide enhanced situational awareness, enabling bridge teams to detect, track and prioritize navigational risks in real time, the company explained.

Orca AI’s shore-based FleetView application extends these capabilities to operations teams, offering visibility into vessel performance, risk exposure and operational trends across fleets.

There are more than 1,200 vessels already deployed and over 500 additional vessels in the pipeline.
