Norwegian Cruise Line is changing the itinerary of the cruise set to take place onboard the Norwegian Breakaway on October 3, 2027.
Sailing to Canada and New England, the seven-night voyage now features visits to a new destination in addition to a rearranged port schedule. The company is dropping Portland, Maine and instead going to Sydney, Nova Scotia.
“As part of our commitment to delivering a seamless and enriching experience, we’ve made an itinerary adjustment due to newly updated port availability,” the company explained in a statement sent to booked guests.
“Even the most thoughtfully planned sailings can occasionally shift course. While these moments aren’t always expected, they often open the door to fresh ways of experiencing your vacation, new rhythms, new views and a little more room to simply relax into the journey,” Norwegian continued.
The company said that, while it works closely with local authorities, port availability can change due to changes in circumstances.
“As fellow travelers at heart, we understand that itinerary changes can bring disappointment and truly appreciate your understanding and flexibility,” Norwegian added.
“Due to port availability updates, we will no longer visit Portland, ME. In its place, we’re excited to welcome Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, to your itinerary.”
As part of the change, the company also rearranged the cruise’s port schedule and arrival times, noting that the itinerary refinement helps “maximize your time in port while supporting a smooth and punctual journey between destinations.”
In addition to Sydney, the cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway is scheduled to visit Eastport, Halifax and Saint John.
In related news, Norwegian recently changed the embarkation port of the first trans-Atlantic cruise of the Norwegian Aura.
Originally set to depart from Barcelona, the new Prima-class ship will now sail from Tarragona for the cruise, which takes place in May 2027.
