The departure of the Hondius from Rotterdam to Vlissingen has been delayed following advice from GGD Rotterdam for additional cleaning procedures, according to Oceanwide Expeditions.
The delay also allows for smoother logistics for resupply in Rotterdam before the vessel departs ahead of her Arctic season, the company said.
The remaining crew members from the original voyage were escorted to quarantine facilities on Saturday evening, May 24.
Captain Jan Dobrogowski was transported to Poland via specialized transport to begin quarantine procedures, while Dutch crew members have returned to their homes for home quarantine as per established protocols.
GGD Rotterdam, in cooperation with Oceanwide Expeditions, wants to ensure that the vessel is ready to be safely returned to service, the company explained.
Based on inspection findings, GGD has advised additional cleaning.
Following completion of this work, GGD will conduct a final inspection before the vessel can depart from Rotterdam.
The company said it will communicate the expected timeline for these procedures as soon as it becomes clear.
All voyages from June 13 onward will proceed as scheduled, according to Oceanwide Expeditions.
No further disruption to the sailing schedule of the Hondius is expected.
