Filip Werne Hermann has been appointed as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Polar Latitudes Expeditions.

He will succeed former CEO Patrick Shaw, who passed away suddenly earlier this year.

His appointment will be effective August 1, 2026, according to a statement.

“Speaking for all of us on the board of Directors, I first want to thank the entire polar community for their support during our recent transition; secondly, I want to express my extreme joy at having Filip join us as our new CEO,” John McKeon, member of the board and founder of Polar Latitudes Expeditions.

“His credentials are impressive alone, but knowing him and his vision for our future assures me that he is the perfect person to guide us toward a future filled with ambition and success.”

Hermann brings more than two decades of leadership experience spanning passenger and freight shipping, management consulting and corporate law.

He most recently served as vice president of DFDS and head of its passenger and freight business in Northern Europe.

Before that, he spent nearly six years with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Copenhagen, where he was promoted to principal in 2017 and led commercial due-diligence, post-merger integrations and strategic transformation projects.

He holds an MBA from the University of San Diego and a master’s degree in law from the University of Copenhagen.
