Celestyal Cancels Gulf, Doubles Down on Med for Winter 2026-27

Celestyal Discovery

Celestyal has cancelled its Arabian Gulf season for winter 2026-27, replacing it with a Mediterranean deployment, which will include the brand’s debut in the Western Med.

In a press release, the cruise line said it would extend its current Eastern Mediterranean season in 2026-27, adding new sailings for two vessels in its fleet, the Celestyal Journey and Discovery.

Both ships spent nearly two months stranded in the Persian Gulf due to conflicts in the region earlier this year, returning to the Mediterranean in April.

“Following a review of our winter deployment, we have decided to focus on strengthening our authentically Mediterranean offering. As a brand rooted in the region, these updates allow us to add more choice across some of our most popular itineraries and introduce brand new Western Mediterranean sailings for the first time,” said Lee Haslett, chief commercial officer at Celestyal.

“We know our guests value Celestyal for our warm hospitality, destination immersion and premium casual approach to cruising, and this extended program will give them even more opportunities to explore the region with us.”

Two additional “Iconic Greek Islands” sailings will be available aboard the Discovery in November 2026, followed by four new “Iconic Greek Islands” sailings in March 2027.

As for the Journey, four March 2027 departures will be added, featuring two “Heavenly Greece, Italy and Croatia” sailings and two “Idyllic Greece” sailings.

Additionally, a new Western Mediterranean itinerary will also be added for winter 2026-27 and winter 2027-28 on the Discovery, while plans for the Journey’s winter 2027-28 season will be announced in the near future.

The company noted that further details, including full itineraries and pricing for the Discovery, will be released soon, with new sailings scheduled to go on sale starting June 15.
