Baltic Ports Organization to Host Shore Power Seminar in Hamburg

Shore power

The Baltic Ports Organization will host a shore power supply seminar and a study visit at the Port of Hamburg on June 26, according to an announcement.

The event is designed for decision-makers responsible for technology implementation, sustainability, investments and infrastructure development in ports and terminals.

Session topics include onshore power for container vessels at the Port of Hamburg, technical and operational barriers to large-scale implementation at container hubs and shore power for the cruise vessel market in the North and Baltic Sea regions.

It also features issues like standardizing cable management and automation for multi-berth cruise terminals.

A panel discussion will examine whether shore power will be seen in five to 10 years as a transition success story or just a costly detour.

The Port of Hamburg has deployed onshore power solutions for container vessels and features advanced cable management and automated interface systems at multi-berth cruise terminals, the organization said.

The event is co-hosted with Port Gear.
