Aroya Returns to Red Sea Ahead of Service Return

Aroya in Souda Bay

The Aroya recently returned to the Red Sea after spending nearly two months stranded in the Arabian Gulf.

Following other ships that were also stuck in the region, the 150,000-ton vessel transited the Strait of Hormuz in late April.

The ship then started a repositioning voyage to its homeport in Jeddah, where it is scheduled to welcome guests back on May 7, 2026.

Resuming its regular sailing schedule, the Aroya is set to operate spring cruises in the Red Sea that sail to destinations in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan.

The three- and four-night itineraries are highlighted by visits to Yanbu and Aqaba, in addition to overnight stays in Sharm El Sheikh.

In late May, the 3,400-passenger ship kicks off a repositioning cruise to Europe ahead of its second summer deployment in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Sailing from Istanbul’s Galataport Cruise Terminal, the Aroya is scheduled to offer a series of seven-night cruises to Turkey, Egypt and Greece.

After debuting in the region in 2025, the ship is set to make visits to a wide range of destinations, including Bodrum, Marmaris, Kaş Alexandria, Piraeus, Rhodes and Mykonos.

The season runs through mid-September, when the 2017-built vessel is scheduled to return to the Red Sea for additional cruises out of Jeddah.

The Aroya is also set to return to the Arabian Gulf during the 2026-27 winter, offering itineraries to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Bahrain.

Aroya Cruises had just kicked off its maiden season in the region when a conflict suspended operations in the Middle East in late February.

With the Strait of Hormuz virtually closed for maritime traffic, the ship then remained docked in Dubai awaiting the start of its repositioning voyage to the Red Sea.

Other five ships were also in the region, including two Celestyal vessels that resumed service in the Eastern Mediterranean earlier this week.
