The Adora Mediterranea is set to operate cruises from Malaysia in late 2026 as part of a charter deal with Hwajing Travel & Tours.

With sailings scheduled for November and December, the operation includes four departures from Penang, according to Travel Weekly Asia.

The report said the charter builds on Hwajing’s track record in cruise operations, marking the brand’s third consecutive year in the market.

The two- to five-night itineraries feature visits to destinations in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and China, such as Langkawi, Phuket and Guangzhou.

Originally built for Costa Cruises, the Mediterranea is currently serving the Chinese domestic market with sailings from Tianjin.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the 2,100-passenger ship is offering a series of four- to six-night cruises from the homeport.

The ship’s schedule for 2026 also includes itineraries from Dalian, in addition to cruises from Xiamen and Guangzhou.

As part of Carnival’s Vista class, the Mediterranea was built at the Kvaerner Masa-Yards and entered service in 2003.

In addition to the Mediterranea, Adora also operates the Adora Magic City, a newbuild that entered service for the brand in early 2024.

The Chinese company is now getting ready to welcome a second new ship to its fleet: the Adora Flora City.

In final stages of construction in China, the 141,000-ton vessel is scheduled to make its official debut in late 2026.

Hwajing Travel & Tours is no stranger to the cruise market, having operated Astro Ocean’s Piano Land in 2026.

The tour operator previously operated other vessels as part of charter contracts, including the Costa Serena, the SuperStar Gemini and the SuperStar Libra.
