Princess Newbuilds Push Orderbook to 2039 and 82 Ships

April Orderbook

Three Princess newbuilds ordered at Fincantieri have pushed the global cruise ship orderbook out to 2039, with the total now standing at 82 cruise ships on order.

The trio of 4,700-guest ships ordered on Wednesday will be the largest Princess ships to date and be 183,000 tons each, with deliveries slated for 2035, 2038 and 2039 from Fincantieri’s Monfalcone yard.

It also grows Carnival Corporation’s orderbook, which now stands at 10 ships for three brands, including the three Princess newbuilds, two ships for AIDA, and five for Carnival Cruise Line, totaling some 51,900 new berths.

The new order is the first on the books for any cruise line for 2038 and 2039, and sets a record for the longest the forward-looking cruise ship orderbook has ever stretched.

The 82 new cruise ships on order represent a book value of over $85 billion in new ships, and come in at an average guest capacity of 2,663 guests and an average tonnage of 117,956. The total number of new berths on order is 218,400.
