Celestyal Cruises said that all of its upcoming cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean are going ahead as scheduled.

In a statement shared on Monday, the company confirmed that its ships are currently sailing to Europe after spending over 50 days stranded in the Middle East.

Celestyal stated that both the Journey and the Discovery have safely transited the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a “significant operational milestone.”

The company added that the operation “demonstrated leadership across the cruise industry during a period of heightened regional sensitivity.”

“Celestyal can confirm that all future sailings currently on sale will operate as scheduled, providing guests and travel partners with confidence and continuity as the company transitions into its Mediterranean deployment,” it stated.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the Celestyal Discovery is scheduled to welcome guests back on May 1, 2026.

Sailing from Lavrion, the 1,360-passenger ship will offer a three-night cruise to destinations in Greece and Turkey, including Kusadasi, Mykonos, Patmos, Santorini and Heraklion.

The Celestyal Journey follows suit one day later, kicking off a seven-night cruise in Piraeus on May 2, 2026.

Sailing to Croatia, Greece and Italy, the port-intensive itinerary features visits to Dubrovnik, Kotor, Bari, Corfu, Argostoli and Katakolon.

The company also highlighted the close collaboration with regional authorities and partners, as well as the work of its crew and captains.

The Celestyal Discovery was under the command of Captain Nikolaos Vasileiou when it became the first ship to depart the Arabian Gulf on April 17, 2026.

Celestyal said that the master executed a carefully coordinated voyage plan developed in collaboration with security teams and regional authorities.

“This pioneering movement established a safe and proven route through the Strait, enabling other ships to follow,” the company added.

Led by Captain Angelos Vasilakos, the Celestyal Discovery transited the same passage on April 18, 2026, heading what the company called a “wider convoy of cruise vessels departing the region using the established corridor.”

“The voyage plans were developed through extensive coordination with key authorities and security stakeholders, ensuring that all movements were conducted with the highest levels of safety, precision and situational awareness,” Celestyal added.

“Safety remained the absolute priority throughout the operation with outstanding leadership, expertise and calm command demonstrated by both Captain Vasileiou and Captain Vasilakos, alongside onboard and shoreside teams,” the company continued.

“Their efforts in navigating complex and sensitive conditions were instrumental in ensuring the safety of all crew and the successful passage of both ships.”
