Swan Hellenic Debuts 32-night Antarctic Grand Voyage

  • March 9, 2026
SH Minerva

Swan Hellenic has unveiled two 32-night Grand Voyages exploring the remote regions of Antarctica aboard the SH Minerva.

Called “Ultimate Antarctica Adventure: From Ushuaia to Dunedin,” the voyages follow the same itinerary from South America to New Zealand, sailing from February 3 to March 8, 2027, and from February 4 to March 7, 2028.

The price for the first option starts at $26,295 and for the second at $29,175 per person, the company said in a press release.

“This remarkable journey is one of the most comprehensive and exclusive Antarctic expedition voyages ever offered,” said Swan Hellenic CEO Andrea Zito.

“At 32 nights long, it really is a Grand Voyage, seamlessly blending scientific discovery, natural beauty and historic exploration in a single unforgettable crossing of the White Continent.”

The company also announced that it has included the new 2027 Grand Voyage in its “Elevated Expeditions” offer, enabling savings for bookings made before the end of March 2026.

The “Ultimate Antarctica Adventure” begins in Argentina’s southern frontier, from where guests will sail toward the wilderness of the Antarctic Peninsula.

After passing through the Lemaire Channel, nicknamed the “Kodak Gap,” guests will sail deeper into rarely visited territory south of the Antarctic Circle, reaching the remote volcanic Peter I Island, said to be one of the least accessible islands on Earth.

Among the voyage’s historical highlights is the Bay of Whales, once the closest navigable point to the South Pole and the base camp of Roald Amundsen during his 1911 expedition.

The SH Minerva will then continue into the Ross Sea, a protected region that hosts Antarctica’s largest and most southerly Adélie penguin colonies, along with orcas, emperor penguins and huts from early 20th-century exploration.

Further along the route, the volcanic Balleny Islands will emerge from the Southern Ocean

This is the summer feeding grounds of humpback, fin and minke whales, as well as crabeater, Weddell, elephant and leopard seals.

The final leg of the voyage will offer guests the opportunity to participate in zodiac expeditions and explore the Sub-Antarctic islands south of New Zealand.

Finally, the journey will reach Snares Island, home to the Snares Crested Penguin, before the SH Minerva arrives in Dunedin.

Additionally, Swan Hellenic shared that its Antarctic voyagers in 2027 will be able to daisy-chain this itinerary with the 13-night “New Zealand in Depth from Dunedin to Auckland” trip (whose inclusive price per person starts at $11,100).

Highlights from South to North along the coasts of all three of its biggest islands include Dusky, Doubtful and Milford Sounds, Oban and Golden Bay on Stewart Island, Akaroa, Kaikoura, Picton, the Abel Tasman National Park, Wellington, Tauranga, the Bay of Islands and Auckland.
