Star and Dream Cruises Add Fuel Surcharge

Star Voyager

StarCruises has added a fuel surcharge for cruises starting aboard the Star Voyager from Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The company did the same for the Genting Dream, which is operating from Singapore under the Dream Cruises brand, according to a statement the company posted to social media.

Rising fuel costs linked to the conflict in the Middle East have impacted operating costs for the company, according to the document.

The new surcharge will be in the amount of NT$600 (~$18.50 USD) per person, per night and will be charged to guests aged two and older on sailings from Keelung.

This amount will be automatically added to the onboard account and must be settled before disembarkation.

Guests boarding in Hong Kong will pay a HK$200 (~$25.50) per person per night fuel charge. Similar charges are set for guests aboard the Genting Dream sailing from Singapore.

The company said the surcharge will be reviewed as fuel prices change and it may decrease if prices drop, or increase further if they continue to rise.
