Norwegian Cruise Line is making changes to its “Happy Birthday” onboard package, which previously included a six-inch cake.
According to a statement sent to guests, the celebratory package, which also offers cabin decorations, will now include other perks.
“This package has been refreshed as part of our continued effort to elevate the way we celebrate life’s moments at sea,” Norwegian said in its message.
“Moving forward, the cake will be replaced with a photo keepsake so you can take home a memory that lasts long after the candles are blown out,” the company added.
As part of the changes, the package now includes festive birthday-themed cabin decorations, as well as a celebration banner.
Other inclusions are a “Compass Collection” photo frame and a photo voucher, which the company said is valued at $29.95. The voucher can be redeemed toward any photo or photo package.
“It is a small shift designed to make your celebration feel more personal and more connected to your time onboard,” Norwegian added.
According to the company’s website, the “Happy Birthday” package is available for pre-cruise bookings for $69.
Norwegian also offers guests the option of pre-purchasing different-sized cakes for consumption onboard its vessels.
The brand’s site shows options for a standard half-sheet cake, which can serve up to 40 guests, for $124, while a standard full-sheet cake, which serves up to 70 passengers, is sold for $169. Both options are available with a choice of vanilla or chocolate flavors.
Norwegian added on its website that a 20 percent gratuity and specialty service charge will be applied at checkout.
In addition to the “Happy Birthday” package, the company offers other similar packages, with choices to celebrate anniversaries, marriages, graduations and more.
Guests can also pre-order a selection of beverages and food items to be delivered to their cabins, with options ranging from a selection of assorted sandwiches for $19 to a jumbo shrimp cocktail for $50 and a collection of international cheeses for $108.
