Adventure Canada Adds Two Svalbard Departures in 2027

  • February 25, 2026
Ocean Albatros

Adventure Canada has announced a new eight-day expedition to Svalbard with two departures in 2027.

The “Svalbard: North to the Midnight Sun” departures are planned for May 18-25, 2027, and June 1-8, 2027, with pricing from $7,895 per person.

The route on this expedition aboard the Ocean Albatros depends on the conditions on the ground, the company said in a statement.

“Svalbard demands humility. It’s a place where ice, wildlife, and weather are always in motion, and responsible travel means listening first and adapting constantly,” said Cedar Swan, CEO of Adventure Canada.

“This expedition reflects how we believe travel should happen in the High Arctic, and indeed everywhere we operate – thoughtfully-paced, deeply informed, and grounded in respect for both the environment and the people working together to understand and protect it.”

Guests take a charter flight from Oslo, Norway, to Longyearbyen where they board the Ocean Albatros.

The expedition then heads through Northwest Svalbard National Park, with the influence of the warm Gulf Stream fading and colder waters and heavier ice taking over as the ship heads northeast.

Despite harsh conditions, this area is home to wildlife including arctic foxes, seabird colonies, walrus, fish, seals, belugas, bowhead whales, and polar bears.

The itinerary aims to visit some of the northernmost land on Earth if the weather and ice conditions permit.

This potentially includes Nordaustlandet or islands of Sjuøyane, situated roughly 1,000 kilometers north of mainland Norway’s Nordkapp.

Next up is Kongsfjorden, a focal point for Arctic research and exploration, followed by a visit to Ny-Ålesund, the world’s northernmost settlement with permanent civilian residents.

The expedition ends in Longyearbyen, followed by the return charter flight to Oslo.
