Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ shoreside team has taken part in conservation activities at Trimley Marshes Nature Reserve, supporting efforts to protect Suffolk’s local wildlife.

The company said in a press release that its staff recently spent the day volunteering with Suffolk Wildlife Trust at Trimley Marshes Nature Reserve.

Julie Long, partnerships manager at Suffolk Wildlife Trust, said: “Our Wild Work Days are a wonderful way for people to get involved in hands-on action that protects and restores some of Suffolk’s most precious wildlife, while contributing to a richer and more resilient natural environment.”

“From practical conservation tasks to wellbeing-focused activities that help deepen our connection with nature, there are so many meaningful ways to take part. It’s the incredible support of volunteers that makes our work possible and helps us move closer to our shared vision for a wilder Suffolk,” added Long.

Dominic Simpson, sustainability manager at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said: “We’re grateful to Suffolk Wildlife Trust for welcoming our team. The day was thoroughly enjoyed and met with great enthusiasm from everyone involved. It’s incredibly rewarding to contribute meaningfully to the community and natural environment we’re part of.”

As part of a Suffolk Wildlife Trust ‘Wild Work Day,’ the team helped clear litter from walking routes and wetland areas, collecting 18.7 kg.

The press release said that the activity forms part of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ continued commitment to sustainability and to supporting the communities it works alongside.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust manages more than 7,100 acres of wild places across 50 nature reserves, protecting a variety of landscapes, including coastal habitats and ancient woodland.
