Mystic Signs Cruise Newbuild Deal in China

Signing the deal

China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Corporation has announced that it signed a deal with Mystic Cruises to build one cruise ship with an option for three additional ships.

The deal was signed at a ceremony in China last week, with Mario Ferreira, president of Mystic Cruises, signing the agreement along with Mei Zhonghua, vice general manager of China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry and general manager of China Merchants Cruise Manufacturing Company.

Ferreira previously said he was negotiating a shipbuilding deal in China.

No other details were available, but the company did say the ships will be tri-fuel.

Mystic owns the Atlas Cruises and Nicko Cruises brands. It has built a series of luxury expedition ships at West Sea in Portugal, the last of which, the Star Seeker, will be delivered to Windstar Cruises next week.
