Azamara Moves Four-Ship Fleet to RINA Classification

  • November 24, 2025
Azamara Ship

RINA has successfully completed the transfer of class for all four Azamara vessels, the company announced in a press release.

The transfer was described as an important milestone for both organizations, reinforcing their shared commitment to safety, technical excellence and long-term performance.

Azamara selected RINA as its classification partner following a review of technical capabilities, global support structure and alignment on operational priorities, RINA said in a statement.

The transfer included a comprehensive documentation review, RINA said, technical due diligence and surveys onboard the Azamara Quest, the Azamara Journey, the Azamara Pursuit and the Azamara Onward.

The shipboard surveys were completed through close collaboration between RINA’s U.S. and European teams and Azamara’s technical leadership, the company added.

“Transitioning our four vessels into RINA class reflects our unwavering commitment to operational excellence and the highest standards of safety at sea,” said Azamara CEO Dondra Ritzenthaler.

“Throughout this process, RINA demonstrated professionalism, deep expertise and a clear understanding of our brand and our priorities. We value this partnership and its role in supporting the exceptional experiences we deliver to our guests worldwide,” she added.

“This class transfer marks an important technical milestone for our fleet. The transition was executed seamlessly, without impacting our deployment or guest operations; a credit to the strong coordination between our team and RINA,” added Minas Miliaras, chief maritime officer at Azamara.

“RINA’s proactive approach and technical competence give us confidence as we continue to evolve and enhance our vessels.”

RINA said that the cruise industry’s continued growth toward more tailored and experience-driven itineraries demands higher standards of safety and environmental performance.

The partnership with Azamara positions both companies to meet future regulatory and operational challenges, RINA added.

“Welcoming the entire Azamara fleet into RINA class is a proud achievement for our U.S. organization. It reflects not only the trust of an exceptional cruise brand but also the strength of our technical teams and our expanding presence in North America,” said Cristina Melado, president of RINA North America.

“We are committed to supporting Azamara with responsive service, global expertise, and a long-term vision for the fleet’s success,” she added.

“This transfer of class is the result of outstanding teamwork and alignment between RINA and Azamara. Azamara operates with a strong focus on safety, guest experience and operational reliability; values that align perfectly with RINA’s mission and technical culture,” added Michele Landro, vice president of Passenger Ships Segment RINA North America.

“We are excited to support the fleet through advanced engineering, digital tools, and sustainability-driven solutions.”
