The Brazilian port of Fortaleza welcomed the Silver Ray for a transit call on March 9, 2025.

According to local authorities, the LNG-powered vessel became the ninth to visit the town this season and brought over 1,300 visitors, including guests and crew.

Currently offering a 71-night cruise to South America, the Silver Ray entered service for Silversea in June 2024.

The Grand Voyage to the region is part of its maiden season and departed from Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 19, 2025.

Also sailing to the Caribbean, the cruise is set to visit 38 destinations in 17 countries before returning to Florida on April 1, 2025.

In addition to Fortaleza, the Silver Ray also sailed to other Brazilian ports of call, including Balneário Camboriú, Ilhabela, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, in addition to Manaus and Parintins in the Amazon.

Built by the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, the Silver Ray is set to offer cruises to the Caribbean after concluding its South America Grand Voyage.

Four cruise ships are set to visit Fortaleza in March, including the Silver Ray and Nicko Cruises’ Vasco da Gama.

Offering a world cruise that departed from Germany in October, the 1,270-guest Vasco da Gama arrived at the Brazilian port on March 7, 2025.

Fortaleza also recently welcomed the Villa Vie Odyssey, in addition to Holland America Line’s Volendam.

Other ships that visited the port this season include Phoenix Reisen’s Amera and Cunard’s Queen Victoria, as well as two Princess ships: the Sapphire Princess and the Majestic Princess.

The cruise season in Fortaleza comes to an end in mid-April with a visit from the MSC Poesia.

Concluding its homeporting season in South America, the MSC Cruises ship arrives at the port during its trans-Atlantic crossing.

Sailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Warnemunde, Germany, the 26-night repositioning cruise is set to visit Fortaleza on April 12, 2025.
