Norwegian Cruise Line Unveils Four New Productions

  • March 5, 2025
Bring Back the 90s

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced the debut of four original entertainment productions set to launch across nine ships through September 2025.

The new shows, Red, White & British, Bring Back the 90s, ICONS: The Bands, and Ignite the Night, were developed at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ Creative Studios in Tampa, Florida, in collaboration with acclaimed creative partners.

As part of NCL’s refreshed entertainment strategy, the productions are designed to offer guests more of what they enjoy, including engaging storytelling, timeless music, and visually stunning performances. Expanding beyond the main theater, the new programming model will introduce first-at-sea shows and exclusive experiences across the fleet, aligning with NCL’s commitment to providing more to see, do, and enjoy.

“NCL has long set the standard for the finest entertainment at sea, with world-class productions and top-tier talent,” said Bryan A. White, vice president of Entertainment Production for Norwegian Cruise Line. “We’re excited to further enhance our guests’ cruising experience by introducing even more exclusive original productions and offering a wider range of entertainment options across our fleet. These innovative shows, exclusively available onboard our ships, reflect our commitment to delivering unforgettable, one-of-a-kind experiences that elevate every aspect of our guests’ journey with NCL.”

The new British tribute show, Red, White & British, was created in partnership with Burn the Floor and celebrates British artists who made a lasting impact in the U.S. Featuring a glam rock segment honoring David Bowie and Queen, the production incorporates visuals, choreography and elaborate costumes. It will debut on the Norwegian Breakaway on March 14, 2025, followed by the Norwegian Epic on May 14 and Norwegian Prima on August 24.

Directed by Jenn Rapp, known for her work on Jersey Boys and America’s Got Talent, the production features set designs by James Kronzer and choreography by Burn the Floor creative team Peta Roby and Jason Gilkison, who have contributed to multiple NCL productions.

NCL is also introducing Bring Back the 90s, an original production by award-winning director Scott Weinstein. Debuting on the Norwegian Getaway on March 2, 2025, the show takes audiences on a nostalgic journey through the decade’s music, fashion, and pop culture. Featuring hits from Alanis Morissette, Salt-N-Pepa, and Destiny’s Child, the 50-minute production blends dance, powerful vocals, and multimedia design. It also marks NCL’s first collaboration with DJ duo The Hood Internet, who have created mashups that reimagine 90s hits in innovative ways.

Guests will relive the magic of the 90s with choreography by James Alonso White, known for his work with prolific shows like “Sesame Street” and the “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” with assistance from Nycole Altchiler, who most recently worked on Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short N’ Sweet” tour. The Norwegian Getaway is currently sailing the Caribbean from New Orleans through April, followed by Bermuda voyages from New York this summer between May and August. The new show will also debut aboard the Norwegian Joy during its July 7, 2025 Alaska sailing from Seattle, where it’ll homeport through September 2025.

The line will debut two new entertainment productions in 2025. “ICONS: The Bands” will premiere on the Norwegian Encore on March 30 during its Panama Canal sailing, featuring a nine-person cast from Choir of Man and directed by Stacy Walker. The show, celebrating legendary bands, will also debut on the Norwegian Escape on May 25.

“Ignite the Night” will launch on the Norwegian Jewel during its March 2 Caribbean cruise from Tampa. Choreographed by Dancing with the Stars professional Britt Stewart, the show blends dance, fashion, and award-show glamour. It will later premiere on Norwegian Gem during Canada and New England sailings from Quebec City on September 5.

Beyond the main theater, NCL is expanding entertainment with more live music, interactive cast experiences and pop-up performances called “Mini Moments of More.” The spontaneous events, including flash mobs and surprise performances, will take place fleetwide in various venues.
