Holland America Line’s Zaandam departed Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, for its 27-day “Amazon Explorer” Legendary Voyage, following a two-week drydock at Grand Bahama Shipyard in the Bahamas.

The refurbishment included updates to guest areas, the spa and fitness center, the library, the Photo Gallery and the Neptune Lounge.

The Greenhouse Spa & Salon underwent a complete redesign, featuring a rebuilt thermal suite with an infrared sauna, Caldarium steam room and experiential rain shower. The relaxation lounge was upgraded with new seating and a beverage counter, while the salon received new manicure stations, pedicure thrones, chairs, and shampoo basins. Accessibility improvements were also made throughout the spa and salon. The Fitness Center was modernized with new finishes, a custom storage area and updated bathrooms.

The ship’s Library was renovated with a modern layout and an updated book collection. Explorations Café was redesigned as a multi-use space with puzzle and game tables. A new Art Studio was added, providing a dedicated venue for arts and crafts programming, including painting, origami and crochet.

The Photo Gallery was upgraded with a new display area and a facial recognition system, allowing guests to access their digital photos on demand. A new Signature Studio was introduced for private photography sessions and custom photo viewings.

The Neptune Lounge, for guests in Neptune and Pinnacle suites, received new flooring, an upgraded food service area, a redesigned concierge desk with improved seating and a larger television.

Following its Amazon voyage, the Zaandam will transit the Panama Canal, visit ports in Mexico and then reposition for Holland America Line’s Alaska season.
