Silversea’s Controtempo 2025 World Cruise has sailed from Tokyo, the company announced in a press release.
Sailing to 59 destinations in 30 countries onboard the Silver Dawn, the 136-night journey sailed from Tokyo on Jan. 13, 2025, and is set to arrive in New York on May 29, 2025.
According to Silversea, guests will experience many iconic cities and off-the-beaten-path destinations in Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America during unconventional seasons.
“Controtempo will open the world to even the most well-traveled guests like never before, allowing them to journey deeper into four diverse continents,” said Bert Hernandez, president, Silversea.
“Traveling from East to West, Controtempo – a musical term meaning ‘off-tempo’ – will take guests closer to the authentic heartbeat of iconic and unique destinations, with more time ashore to experience the world’s most enriching destinations during unconventional seasons,” he added.
Hernandez also highlighted the Silver Dawn, which embarks on a world cruise for the first time, and the cruise’s signature events.
“Guests will enjoy an enhanced onboard experience, including the best of our innovative S.A.L.T. culinary and Otium wellness programs. Together with our exclusive signature events, which we have specially curated to give our guests an experience they can’t get anywhere else, guests will explore the world in a new light.”
The Controtempo voyage was designed to allow guests to rediscover the world off-tempo and offbeat for a more in-depth experience, Silversea said.
Offering a different perspective on each destination, the itinerary was created to include unique perspectives on the world’s most iconic and off-the-beaten-path destinations, the company added.
Split across nine unique segments visiting a set of 59 destinations across 30 countries, the cruise allows guests to visit 19 ports of call that are new to a Silversea World Cruise.
Upon their arrival in Tokyo, guests were treated to an airside meet and greet, a hospitality suite hosted by Silversea leadership and a Bon Voyage lunch celebration.
Following the Bon Voyage celebration, passengers arrived in the terminal, where they were met by Japanese drummers provided by the city of Tokyo as a sendoff to their Controtempo adventure.
According to Silversea, the World Cruise also includes a collection of “once-in-a-lifetime bespoke events,” that will allow for deeper exploration of the destinations.
The lineup includes a sensorial discovery experience through the flavors of Vietnam during the ship’s visit to Da Nang on Feb. 1, 2025.
Passengers will also enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Singapore with exclusive access to the iconic Sky Park Observation Deck, which has been privatized for Controtempo guests.
Other experiences include a dinner between the dunes in Namibia and a gala evening at the Versailles Palace in France.
