In 2024, over 70 cruise ships arrived at the Port of Tokyo, and many passengers enjoyed a stay in Tokyo. The Port of Tokyo is easily accessible from Haneda and Narita International Airports, making it an ideal port for fly and cruise travelers. Japan’s leading metropolis is home to many popular spots such as Ginza, Asakusa, Akihabara and Shibuya, all of which are easily accessible from the port.
In addition to the existing Tokyo International Cruise Terminal, another terminal, the Harumi Cruise Terminal, will reopen in June 2025 in a new facility to accept small and medium-sized passenger vessels. Located near the center of Tokyo, the Harumi Cruise Terminal offers a wide variety of tourist attractions.
The sophisticated shopping and dining of Ginza is only a 10-minute drive away. Toyosu, located on the coast, is a bustling area with new facilities constantly appearing. Toyosu Market, just a stone’s throw from the Harumi Cruise Terminal, is famous for fresh seafood and sushi, and offers a variety of tours. Tuna auctions are also held. At Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai, located near the market, enjoy moments of luxury with open-air bathing offering views of Tokyo Bay and a footbath garden.
Tsukiji, a 10-minute drive from the Harumi Cruise Terminal, is a bustling area that has long developed around the market and has proved popular among overseas visitors. Many nearby restaurants, both inside and outside the Tsukiji market, serve amazingly fresh cuisine from breakfast to lunch.
Tsukishima, a 10-minute drive from the Harumi Cruise Terminal, is known as a sacred place for monjayaki, and is lined with many restaurants. Monjayaki is a teppan (iron griddle) dish that originated in Tokyo. Ingredients such as meat and cabbage are mixed into a batter made of flour dissolved in water and grilled, and the dish is eaten by scooping it up little by little with a spatula that looks like a spoon. At Tsukishima Monja Street, visitors can enjoy traditional monjayaki and savor the local flavor.
Tokyo also has a number of new spots where visitors can enjoy the latest technology and cultural experiences. teamLab Borderless : MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM, now in Azabudai Hills, is an immersive digital art experience offering visitors a new world of art as a “museum without a map” of art without boundaries. In the vibrant area of Shibuya, the famous “scramble” crossing is a spectacular sight with countless people coming and going simultaneously. Visitors can enjoy shopping as well as clubs and bars until late at night. In addition to clubs and bars, the Roppongi area is also home to world-class museums and luxury brand stores—relax by shopping and visiting museums.
Ryogoku, the sacred home of sumo wrestling, offers sumo matches and a wide variety of dining options such as chanko-nabe (wrestler’s stew). In Asakusa, where Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo’s oldest temple, is located, enjoy a stroll wearing yukata and ride on a rickshaw. Here you can experience traditional Japanese culture.
