Hansa Touristik Confirms Closure

Ocean Majesty

Hansa Touristik is officially closing the chapter on a possible relaunch, according to reports in the German media.

The tour operator has been without a ship since abruptly closing its 2023 summer season to charter the Ocean Majesty to the Netherlands as refugee accommodation.

Hansa Touristik seized operations in August 2023, following a final Greenland cruise when the crew was terminated and the last guests disembarked the ship. The Ocean Majesty remains docked on the North Sea Canal between IJmuiden and Amsterdam, continuing to serve as floating refugee housing.

Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly noted the company had filed for bankruptcy.
