History was made as the world’s first Chinese polar cruise brand, 66° Expedition Cruise, celebrated the official (virtual) delivery of the Seaventure during a recent ceremony in Hong Kong.
The ship was handed over from its previous owner, Scylla, marking the start of an exciting new chapter in polar exploration travel, according to a press release.
66° Expedition Cruise is a joint venture involving Guangdong Tourism Holdings, Guangdong Port and Shipping Group and other private enterprises.
The event was attended by notable guests, including Qianguo Luo, Yiming Hu, and Jie Cheng, prominent leaders from Guangdong Tourism Holding Group, Guangdong Port and Shipping Group and related companies. These leaders highlighted the ship’s role in advancing China’s ambitions in polar tourism.
The 150-guest Seaventure will continue to operate on a charter agreement in Antarctica with Polar Latitudes, and is expected to sail under new branding during summers in the Arctic catering to Chinese and western guests.
The ship is Hapag Lloyd’s former Bremen and one of the first newbuild expedition ships.
